The AIT community welcomes Dr. W. G. Gallardo. Dr. Wenresti G. Gallardo (left) is an Assistant Professor at the Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management Field of Study starting April 18, 2005. He received his B.S. Fisheries and Master of Aquaculture degrees from the University of the Philippines, and his M.S. Fisheries and Ph.D. in Marine Science from Nagasaki University, Japan.

Before joining AIT, he was a Scientist at the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center, Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC AQD) and has served as Program Leader for Stock Enhancement and Head of the Farming Systems and Ecology Section. He was a lecturer in SEAFDEC AQD's national and international training programs and also taught Biology of Exploited Invertebrates to master students at the University of the Philippines in the Visayas.

His research interests include aquaculture seed production and grow out technology development, coastal resource management, and stock enhancement. He has several international journal publications on abalone, oysters, mussels, rotifers, and other aquaculture and stock enhancement species. He is a recipient of the Outstanding Young Scientist Award given by the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) of the Philippines.

At AIT, he will teach and supervise graduate students, and conduct research in the field of aquaculture and integrated tropical coastal zone management. He can be contacted at tel. ext 5452, room 103 Agricultural and Food Engineering building, and gallardo@ait.ac.th
