Visiting AIT

Attending the meeting were Dr. Anila Sadananda (seated right), Associate Registrar for Student Affairs; Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe (seated left), Director of Promotions; Dr. Jonathan Shaw, Program Director at AIT Extension; and Mr. Kyaw Soe Hlaing, Alumni Relations Coordinator, AIT.
The meeting discussed about possible collaborative activities between AIT and ACAP initially through AIT Extension training programs. It was also suggested that further discussions to be placed with a view to come up with suitable collaboration programs.

On 6 Sept., Mr. Daisuke Okabe, First Secretary, Embassy of Japan, Bangkok visited AIT. The purpose of the visit is to familiarize himself with AIT as Mr. Okabe has just been posted at the Japanese Embassy in Bangkok last July 2005 and will be the official in charge of the Japanese Govt. relation with AIT at the Embassy. Mr. Okabe paid a courtesy call on Prof. Vilas Wuwongse, Vice President for External Relations and discussed the collaboration between the Govt. of Japan and AIT. He mentioned that although the contributions from the Japanese Govt. has been reducing during the recent years, the Japanese Embassy in Bangkok is trying its best to
assist AIT in securing financial support from other sources.
Mr. Okabe also had a meeting with JICA seconded faculty, Dr. Aramaki and Dr. Susaki, together with Ms. Kulvimol Wasuntiwongse, Secretary to the Board and Ms. Kanya Worawichawong. He also met with other Japanese faculty at AIT, namely Prof. M. Kusanagi and Dr. Y. Kato.
