AIT President visits Sri Lanka
AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust, accompanied by Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Director of Promotions, visited Colombo, Sri Lanka on 21st September 2005.
The visit was made to handover the AIT Post Tsunami Sustainable Communities Programme proposal to H.E. Mr. Dinesh Gunawardena, Minister of Urban Development and Water Supply and Deputy Minister of Education. The project, to be implemented in two sites in southern part of Sri Lanka over a 3-year period, if accepted by the Government of Sri Lanka is a mega project costing over US$5.2 Million.
The AIT President also met with H.E. Dr. Tara de Mel (above right), Secretary, Ministry of Education, HRD and Cultural Affairs, and Advisor to H.E. President of Sri Lanka. Discussions were also held on the establishment of an AIT Center in Sri Lanka, in partnership with the University Grants Commission and two of the Premier National Universities.

(subsidiary of CBC).
At the end of his visit, the AIT President was hosted for a dinner by the Sri Lankan Alumni Association, wherein over 30 Senior Alumni met him.
