SEA-UEMA, SERI Co-organize UEM Project Management Training in Penang, Malaysia
The CIDA-AIT Southeast Asia Urban Environmental Management Application (SEA-UEMA) Project of the UEM/SERD and the Socio-Economic & Environmental Research Institute (SERI) will hold the 'Professional Training Program on the Management of UEM Projects in Southeast Asia' from 19-21
October 2005 in Penang, Malaysia.
The training aims to enable the participants to build up capacities in managing UEM-related projects - particularly the interventions under SEA-UEMA Project in the three sub-sectors (water and sanitation, solid waste and air pollution). Specific objectives are:
- To establish common understanding of the concepts and approaches in project management including results-based management (RBM) to be utilized in the management of UEM-related projects
- To share practical experience among participants
- To gain experience from site visit to some local activities
- To enhance knowledge and skills for management of particular UEM activities including Alumni Demonstration Projects (ADP), Joint Action Research (JAR) and other related interventions in the three sub-sectors
- To develop framework for individual/group strategies and work plans to manage particular UEM projects
Resource speakers from AIT and SERI, which is based in Penang, Malaysia, will be on hand to conduct the training. This training is open to project partners and proponents as well as qualified network members and other UEM professionals from Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Timor Leste and Vietnam. A limited number of sponsorship is available to selected participants.
