Visiting AIT
On 17 October, Mr. Amita Lal Gooneratna (right), Managing Director/CEO of Commercial Bank of Ceylon made a courtesy call on Prof. Said Irandoust, AIT President.
During the meeting, Prof. Irandoust expressed the interest of AIT to further collaborate with CBC to be the private sector arm of AIT in Sri Lanka. Discussions will be underway shortly to look at the concept of establishing an AIT Center with CBC to offer short term Management Development Programme as well as the 'Executive MBA Programme' to corporate sector clients in Colombo at a full fee paying basis. It was agreed that Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Head of Communications/External Relations will hold initial discussions with Mr. Jayanta Jayaratna, General Manger, HRD, CBC, after which a task force will be constituted with respective representative from AIT Schools/AIT-Extension and CBC to work out the business plan.
The Commercial Bank of Ceylon (CBC), the leading private sector Bank in Sri Lanka with over 130 branches island wide and having 5 branches in Bangladesh and will establish branch offices in the SAARC countries in the next 2 years. Presently AIT-Extension jointly with CBC - has conducted 1-week mid-senior level Professional Management Development Programme to the Sri Lankan Corporates at AIT-Extension.
