Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, on 8 November 2005, graciously presided over the opening ceremony of the 8th German Technology Symposium & Exhibition (GTS '05) held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. The event was open to public from 8 - 12 November.

On this occasion, HRH Princess Sirindhorn visited the AIT exhibition booth and graciously acknowledged and received from Prof. Said Irandoust, AIT President three copies of Digital Library collection of rare 100 Thai books jointly developed by AIT and the National Library of Thailand. Her Royal Highness was also greeted by Prof. Vilas Wuwongse, VP - External Relations; Dr. Barbara Igel of SOM; and Mr. Anupam Das, Senior Program Associate, SOM; and other staff members from AIT.

On 9 November, Professor Sudip K. Rakshit, VP - Research conducted a lecture on 'Technology, Development and Management in Asia - Research Themes & Opportunities for Collaboration'. Prof. Athapol Noomhorm, FEBT/School of Sustainable Development, also participated as symposium moderator.

At one of the two AIT exhibition booths, AIT displayed the SAT-ISE Program's flying robot, a computer vision system for rice kernel quality evaluation, and an ISE showcase box.

Both exhibition booths received impressive interest and attention from the participants.
