UNEP Supports Scholarships for ESD Studies in AIT
As part of the cooperation between United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) and AIT is to implement joint activities in the area of environment and sustainable development, UNEP recently launched 5 Masters scholarships for Environmental and Sustainable Development studies in AIT.
The scholarship program -- targeted for January 2006 semester - is under the UNEP Bali Strategic Plan for Technology Support and Capacity-building which aims to provide capacity building measures based on national and subregional priorities and needs.

ITServ Increases Storage Quota, Improves Service
A. MAIL SERVER MIGRATION FOR IMPROVED SERVICES
Starting November 8th in the evening, ITServ will roll out a new mail
system that will give users a disk storage quota of 100 Mb compared to
the current 10 Mb. This system is also expected to provide:
faster response times (new NAS storage back-end)
improved reliability (3 servers instead of 1, new storage
format avoiding mailbox corruption)
more flexible quota management with a grace period (instead of
immediately bounced mails)
More improvements will follow after this first stage, such as an
improved web mail.
SOM faculty member's paper gets published
SOM faculty member Dr. Roy Kouwenberg's paper was recently accepted for publication. The paper entitled 'Linkages between Extreme Stock Market and Currency Returns' is co-authored by Phornchanok Cumperayot, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand and Tjeert Keijzer, AEGON Asset Management, Netherlands.
Visiting AIT
On 17 October, Mr. Amita Lal Gooneratna (right), Managing Director/CEO of Commercial Bank of Ceylon made a courtesy call on Prof. Said Irandoust, AIT President.
During the meeting, Prof. Irandoust expressed the interest of AIT to further collaborate with CBC to be the private sector arm of AIT in Sri Lanka.
