Joint master's program accredited

AIT's French partner, Institut National des Telecommunications (INT) has been officially notified that the institutes' joint master of science program entitled 'ComNets - Communication Networks and Services' has been accredited by the French Conference des Grandes Ecoles. This is one of the first times, if not the first, that an AIT offering in the engineering field is thus accredited.

The accreditation received is an initial and provisory one valid for one year after which it will be reexamined.

The degree is part of AIT's dual-degree master's program with the French institute where students spend one year at AIT followed by one year at INT. After completing the program, the students will receive the master's degrees both from AIT and INT. The accreditation covers both parts of the master's program.

Three AIT students are currently at INT in this framework with the financial support of the French cooperation. Five more are due to follow in 2006.

The Conference des Grandes Ecoles is an association of directors and presidents from French Grandes Ecoles. The Grandes Ecoles system is parallel to the more common university system and comprises highly selective engineering and business schools as well as a few other specialist institutions.
