Doctoral students may apply for conference grants

The AIT Alumni Association sponsors doctoral students to attend international conferences. The aims are to promote interest in sharing of knowledge and experience and to project the AIT image in research.

The association will provide partial financial support to three students, one from each school per year, to assist to cover the cost of attendance including registration, traveling, and accommodation expenses. The overall grant will not exceed 30,000 baht per person.

Doctoral students at AIT who passed their 'Advancement to Candidacy Examination' are eligible to apply. Students are eligible for only one grant. Advisors may nominate a candidate, and the nomination shall be accompanied by a submission form from the nominee.

The following documents should be submitted by the applicant: a copy of the conference announcement; a letter from the doctoral faculty advisor that the selected conference is a recognized international conference and that the paper abstract is based on the student's doctoral dissertation; a copy of the student's paper abstract which is to be presented at an international conference (the student may be a co-author); a letter/e-mail of abstract acceptance from the conference organizing committee; a travel itinerary and proposed budget of the applicant; a note giving the reasons for and benefits to be derived from attending the conference.

The application must be received by the Alumni Office at least six months before the conference date.

All received applications will be reviewed by a selection committee appointed by the alumni association.

Applicants should meet all the above requirements and submit his/her application to Alumni Office, Administration Building. Applications must be received by the AITAA Office by Friday 28, April 2006, during official working hours.
