New master's program soon formalized

AIT, the Department of Mineral Fuels, Ministry of Energy, Petroleum Institute of Thailand and numerous oil and gas companies are launching the first interdisciplinary Professional Master's of Engineering in Offshore Technology and Management program to be offered by School of Engineering and Technology (SET).

The partners include: PTT Exploration and Production Public Co., Ltd, Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production Ltd., CUEL Limited, Thai Nippon Steel Engineering and Construction Corporation Ltd., Worley Parsons (Thailand) Ltd., Technip Engineering (Thailand) Ltd., and Foster Wheeler International Corporation.

The joint project members will sign a memorandum of understanding on 'Human Resources Development Project in Offshore Exploration and Production Industry for Enhancing Thailand's Competitiveness' on 3 May 2006.

The agreement seeks to enhance the efficiency of human resources in Offshore Exploration and Production field to support Thailand's long-term competitiveness and to train personnel in offshore exploration and production.

The one-year professional master's of engineering program in Offshore Technology and Management is set up to specifically serve staffs from oil and gas industries with few years of work experiences who desire to broaden their knowledge in the related area and in the same time obtain a master degree in a short leave period from their job.

Target students are professionals who want to upgrade themselves with the support of their employers.
