MD. ZEENATUL BASHER
A.M. SHAHABUDDIN
Chintana Boonthamjinda Memorial Prize

Mr. MD. ZEENATUL BASHER (left), three-terms Student Union (SU) Media Coordinator and Chief Editor graduates in Batch 105 and is a recipient of The Chintana Boonthamjinda Memorial Prize.

Sharing him the award is Mr. A.M. SHAHABUDDIN (right), another Batch 105 graduate. The award is conferred in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management.

Mr. Basher, a Bangladeshi citizen, obtained his B.Sc. (Hons.) degree, major in Fisheries, from Khulna University, Bangladesh in 2002. Mr. Basher was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management with area of specialization in Integrated Tropical Coastal Zone Management in August 2004 and completed his M.Sc. degree with a thesis entitled 'Benthic Habitat Mapping using Remote Sensing and GIS and Assessment of Carrying Capacity of a Marine Park'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Basher worked as a Research Assistant in SUFER-DFID Project on Shrimp Distribution Channel in the Southern region of Bangladesh and also as a Self-employed Freelancer working on Hardware & Network Support and Web Development.

Mr. Shahabuddin, a Bangladeshi citizen, obtained his M.Sc. degree, major in Fisheries Management from the Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, Bangladesh in 2004. Mr. Shahabuddin was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management in August 2004 and completed his M.Sc. degree with a thesis entitled 'Use of rice straw as a substrate for periphyton based aquaculture system.' Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Shahabuddin worked as a Research at Research Project on Mollusk, Mymensingh, Bangladesh.

The Chintana Boonthamjinda Memorial Prize was established in May 1998, with funds from her family, AIT alumni, faculty and staff in memory of Mrs. Chintana, a long-serving, dedicated staff in Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management.


PRITHULA DHUNGEL
The Hisamatsu Prize

Batch 105's Hisamatsu Prize recipient is Ms. Prithula Dungel (right) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Computer Science.
Ms. Dhungel, a Nepali citizen, obtained her B.Eng. degree, major in Computer Engineering, from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, in 2003. Ms. Dhungel was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Computer Science in August 2004 and completed her M.Eng. degree with a thesis entitled 'Group Formation and Collaboration in a Peer to Peer Remote Laboratory over Xcast'. Prior to joining AIT, Ms. Dhungel worked as Lecturer at Kantipur Engineering College, Laltipur, Nepal

The Hisamatsu Prize is awarded from funds provided in 1982 by Professor Yoshihiro Hisamatsu, formerly Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo and now Advisor in Technology to the Nisshin Steel Co., Ltd. of Japan.


LUONG VIET PHONG
The James A. Linen III Memorial Prize

Batch 105's James A. Linen III Memorial prize recipient is Mr. Luong Viet Phong (left) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Information Management. Mr. Phong, a Vietnamese citizen, obtained his B.Eng. degree, major in Information Technology from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam in 2003. Mr. Phong was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Information Management in August 2004 and completed his M.Eng. degree with a thesis entitled 'XML Document Generation Approach to Automatic Semantic Web Services Composition'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Phong worked as Programmer at the Scientific and Technological Cooperation Company, Vietnam.

The James A. Linen III Memorial Prize was established in 1988 in memory of Mr. James Linen, a charter founding member and life member of the Board of Trustees from 1967 to 1988.


MANAVIT VINAIPANIT
The Tim Kendall Memorial Prize

Batch 105's Tim Kendall Memorial Prize recipient is Mr. Manavit Vinaipanit (right) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Industrial Engineering and Management. Mr. Manavit, a Thai citizen, obtained his B.Eng. degree, major in Civil Engineering, from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand in 1998. Mr. Manavit was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Industrial Engineering and Management in August 2004 and completed his M.Eng. degree with a thesis entitled 'A Multicommodity Distribution Network Design in Supply Chain Management'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Manavit worked as Assistant Production Manager Engineer with Thai Bamboo and Wood Products Company Limited, Thailand.

The Tim Kendall Memorial Prize was established in 1981 from funds provided by the United Kingdom AIT Appeal, in memory of Mr. R.M. (Tim) Kendall, member of the Board of Trustee from 1971 to 1981.


UMESH PHUYAL
The Yoshiro Takasaki Prize

Batch 105's Yoshiro Takasaki Prize recipient is Mr. Umesh Phuyal (left) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Information and Communication Technologies. Mr. Phuyal, a Nepali citizen, obtained his B.Eng. degree, major in Electronic Engineering, from Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 2003. Mr. Phuyal was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Information and Communication Technologies in August 2004 and completed his M.Eng. degree with a thesis entitled 'Call Admission Control for High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA)'. During his second year, Mr.
Phuyal was selected to join the dual-degree Master degree program communication Networks and Services established jointly by AIT and
the National Institute for Telecommunications (INT France). Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Phuyal worked as Lecturer with Advanced College of Engineering and Management, Lalitpur, Nepal.

The Yoshiro Takasaki Prize was established from funds provided in 1999 by Mr. Yoshiro Takasaki, chairman of Toyo Seikan Kaisha Ltd., Japan, member of the Board of Trustees since 1994.


NGUYEN QUANG KANH
The Werner Von Siemens Excellence Award

Batch 105's Werner von Siemens Excellence Award recipients is Mr. Nguyen Quang Kanh (right) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Mechatronics. Mr. Khanh, a Vietnamese citizen, obtained his B.Eng. degree, majoring in Mechatronics Engineering, from Hanoi University of Technology, Vietnam in 2004. Mr. Khanh was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Mechatronics in August 2004 and completed his M.Eng. degree with a thesis entitled 'An Elephant Trunk-like Robot Actuated by Binary Manipulators based on Series Stewart Platform'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Khanh worked as Teaching Assistant of Mechanical Technology with Hanoi University of Technology, Vietnam.

The Werner von Siemens Excellence Award is given from funds provided in 1999 by the Siemens Company, Ltd., one of the major partners of the Mechatronics interdisciplinary field of study of the Institute.

The Infineon Prize

Batch 105's Infineon Prize recipient is Mr. Syed Hassan Mujtaba Jafri (left) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Microelectronics. Mr. Jafri, a Pakistani citizen, obtained his B.Sc. degree, major in Electrical Engineering, from University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan in 2001. Mr. Jafri was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Microelectronics in August 2004 and completed his M.Eng. degree with a thesis entitled 'Quantum Tunneling based Electronics Pressure Sensor using Nanotechnology'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Jafri worked as an Assistant Professor at University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan.

The Infineon Prize is given from funds provided in 2003 by the Infineon Technologies AG, through its Asia Pasific Office in Singapore.


JIANG FENGHUAN
John A. Hrones Prize

Batch 105's John A. Hrones Award recipient is Mr. Jiang Fenghuan (right) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Remote Sensing & Geographic Information Systems. Mr. Fenghuan, a Chinese citizen, obtained his B.Eng. degree, major in Telecommunication Engineering from Hunan University, People's Republic of China in 2003. Mr. Fenghuan was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Remote Sensing & Geographic Information Systems in August 2004 and completed his M.Eng. degree with a thesis entitled 'Onboard Weight-In-Motion Measurement System'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Fenghuan worked as System Maintenance at Guangdong ET Fiber, Zhan Jiang, People's Republic of China.

The John A. Hrones Prize is awarded from funds provided in 1996 by AIT Foundation Inc., U.S.A., in honor of the late Dr. Hrones, who served as a member of the AIT Board of Trustees from 1968 to 1998.


PHAM TRAN TUNG
The Sonera Prize

Batch 105's Sonera Prize recipient is Mr. Pham Tran Tung (left) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Telecommunications.
Mr. Tung, a Vietnamese citizen, obtained his B.Eng. degree, major in Electronics & elecommunications Engineering, from Hanoi University of Technology, Vietnam in 2001. Mr. Tung was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Telecommunications in August 2004 and completed his M.Eng. degree with a thesis entitled 'Sub-Optimal Chip-level Equalizer Combined with Parallel Interference Canceller for MIMO CDMA Downlink Channels'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Tung worked as an Engineer at Vietnam Power Telecom, Hanoi, Vietnam.

The Sonera Prize is given from funds provided in 1991 by Telecom, Finland.

The Wireless Personal Multimedia (WPMC) Prize

Batch 105's Wireless Personal Multimedia (WPMC) Prize recipient is Mr. Sivasothy Senthuran (right) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications. Mr. Senthuran, a Sri Lankan citizen, obtained his B.Sc.Eng. degree, major in Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 2003. Mr. Senthuran was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Telecommunications in August 2004 and completed his M.Eng. degree with a thesis entitled 'Performance Analysis of MIMO Systems with Antenna Correlation'. During his second year, Mr. Senthuran was selected to join the dual-degree Master degree program Communication Networks and Services
established jointly by AIT and the National Institute for Telecommunications (INT France). Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Senthuran worked as a Visiting Instructor at University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka.

The WPMC Prize is given by Yokosuka Research Park R&D; Committee and Communications Research Laboratory of Japan, from the fund established in 2001 in recognition of AIT's contributions to WPMC.


ROJEE SUWAL
The Shoichiro Toyoda Prize

Batch 105's Shoichiro Toyoda Prize recipient is Ms. Rojee Suwal (left).
Ms. Suwal, a Nepali citizen, obtained her B.Sc. degree, major in Agriculture from Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 2001. Ms. Suwal was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Natural Resources Management in August 2004 and completed her M.Sc. degree with a thesis entitled 'Assessment of Agro-biodiversity in a Changing Shifting Cultivation Landscape: A Case Study of Bhumlingchowk VDC, Gorkha District, Nepal'. Prior to joining AIT, Ms. Suwal worked as Biodiversity and NRM Research and Development with Local Initiativer for Biodiversity Research and Development (LI-BIRD), Nepal.

The Shoichiro Toyoda Prize, funded by KEIDANREN, the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations, is presented in recognition of the best academic performance among women students of the graduating class.

The Mahesh Varma Prize

Batch 105's Mahesh Varma Prize recipient is Mr. Muhammad Afzal (right) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Construction Engineering and Infrastructure Management. Mr. Afzal, a Pakistani citizen, obtained his B.Sc.Eng. degree, major in Civil Engineering, from The University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan in 2004. Mr. Afzal was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Construction Engineering and Infrastructure Management in August 2004 and completed his M.Eng. degree with a thesis entitled 'Profiling a Truly World-class Construction and Engineering Company'.

The Mahesh Varma Prize was established from funds provided by Prof. Mahesh Varma, former AIT Faculty member, for outstanding academic performance among graduating Master's students in the Structural Engineering and Construction Program.

The Chin Fung Kee Prize

Batch 105's Chin Fung Kee Prize recipient is Mr. Anil Bhandari (left) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering. Mr. Bhandari, a Nepali citizen, obtained his B.Eng. degree, major in Civil Engineering, from Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 2003. Mr. Bhandari was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering in August 2004 and completed his M.Eng. degree with a thesis entitled 'Laboratory Investigation of Stiffened Deep Cement Mixed Pile with Hypoplastic Simulation'.

The Chin Fung Kee Prize is awarded from funds contributed in 1990 by the distinguished students of the late Professor Chin Fung Kee, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Malaya, and past President of the Southeast Asian Geotechnical Society.

Batch 105's Aoyagi Prize recipient is Ms. Noorma Shrestha (right) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Structural Engineering.
Ms. Shrestha, a Nepali citizen, obtained her B.Eng. degree, major in Civil Engineering, from Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 2003. Ms. Shrestha was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Structural Engineering in August 2004 and completed her M.Eng. degree with a thesis entitled 'Seismic Performance of Reinforced Concrete Framed Building with Soft First Storey in Low to Moderate Seismicity Region'.

The Aoyagi Prize was established from funds provided in 1994 by Prof Aoyagi, former AIT faculty member.

Batch 105's Hiromichi Seya Prize recipient is Ms. Noorma Shrestha. The Hiromichi Seya Prize, funded by KEIDANREN, the Japan Federation of Economic organizations, is presented in recognition of the best academic performance among women students of the graduating class.

Batch 105's Barbara and John Hugh Jones Prize is Mr. Fayyaz Mahmood Qadir (left) and Mr. Taqsim Husnain (right) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Transportation Engineering. Mr. Qadir, a Pakistani citizen, obtained his B.Sc.Eng. degree, major in Civil Engineering, from University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan in 2004. Mr. Qadir was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Transportation Engineering in August 2004 and completed his M.Eng. degree with a thesis entitled 'Determination of Passengers Perceptions and Effects of Bus Holding Strategy using an Automatic Vehicle Location System in Bangkok'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Qadir worked as Junior Engineer at NESPAK House, Lahore, Pakistan.

Mr. Husnain, a Bangladeshi citizen, obtained his B.Sc.Eng. degree, major in Civil Engineering, from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2004. Mr. Husnain was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Transportation Engineering in August 2004 and completed his M.Eng. degree with a thesis entitled 'Evaluating the Effectiveness of Energy Savings of the Intermodal Freight Transport in Thailand'.

The Barbara and John Hugh Jones Prize is awarded from funds provided in 1994 by Professor John Hugh Jones, former Vice President for Academic Affairs of the Asian Institute of Technology.

Batch 105's Chainarong Na Lamphun Prize recipient is Ms. Nisha Budhathoki (right) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Water Engineering and Management. Batch 105's Y.Y. Kishida Prize recipients are Lokhande Suresh Bajirao (left), Mwumvaneza Valens (2nd from left) & Willoram Mudiyanselage Ratnayake (right) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Agricultural Systems and Engineering.

Mr. Bajirao, an Indian citizen, obtained his B.Tech. degree in Agricultural Engineering from Dr. A.S. College of Agricultural Engineering, India in 2001. Mr. Bajirao was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Agricultural Systems and Engineering in August 2004 and completed his M.Eng. degree with a thesis entitled 'On-farm Application of GLYCIM/GUICS Soybean Model'.

Mr. Valens, a Rwandan citizen, obtained his B.Tech. degree, major in Agricultural Engineering from the Allahabad Agricultural Institute-Deemed University, India in 2002. Mr. Valens was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Agricultural Systems and Engineering in August 2004 and completed his M.Eng. degree with a thesis entitled 'Agricultural Mechanization Potential in Rwanda: A Multi-location Spatial Approach by GIS Techniques'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Valens worked as an Assistant Lecturer at Higher Institute of Agriculture and Livestock (I.S.A.E.), Kigali-Rwanda.

Mr. Ratnayake, a Sri Lankan citizen, obtained his M.Sc. degree, major in Agriculture from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2001. Mr. Ratnayake was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Agricultural Systems and Engineering in August 2004 and completed his M.Sc. degree with a thesis entitled 'Assessment of Variation in Soil Quality and Land Productivity in Coconut-Pineapple Under-storey Cropping Systems in Sri Lanka'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Ratnayake worked as Farm Planning Officer at Coconut Cultivation Board, Sri Lanka.
The Y.Y. Kishida Prize was established in 1992 by Mr. Yoshisuke Kishida, owner of the Shin Norinsha Co., Tokyo, Japan, in memory of his son, Yoshiyuke.

Batch 105's Yoshiro Takasaki Prize recipient is A.M.C.J. Angammana (right) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Energy. Mr. Angammana, a Sri Lankan citizen, obtained his B.Sc.Eng. degree major in Electrical Engineering, from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 2002. Mr. Angammana was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Energy in August 2004 and completed his M.Eng degree with a thesis entitled 'Analytical Study of Factors Affecting Electromechanical Oscillations in Power Systems'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Angammana worked as a Visiting Lecturer at Kothalawala Defence Academy Ratmalana, Sri Lanka.

The Yoshiro Takasaki Prize was established from funds provided in 1999 by Mr. Yoshiro Takasaki, Chairman of Toyo Seikan Kaisha Ltd., Japan, member of the AIT Board of Trustees since 1994.

The Robert B. Banks Prize

Batch 105's Robert Banks Price recipient is Mr. Nguyen Quang Hung (left) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Environmental Engineering and Management. Mr. Hung a Vietnamese citizen, obtained his B.Eng. degree, major in Environmental Engineering from Hanoi University of Technology, Vietnam in 2000. Mr. Hung was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Environmental Engineering and Management in August 2004, and completed his M.Eng degree with a thesis entitled 'Hydrogenotrophic Denitrification of Aquaculture Wastewater using Hollow Fiber Membrane Bioreactor'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Hung worked as an Engineer at Dzung Quat Refinery Project Management Board, Vietnam.

The Robert B. Banks Prize named after Professor Robert Banks, one of the Institute's former Presidents, was awarded for the first time in 1994 from funds generated by the continuing education and consultancy activities in Geotechnical Engineering of Professor A.S. Balasubramaniam and his colleagues.

The Albert Stevens Prize

Batch 105's Albert Stevens Prize recipient is Ms. Siriprapa Sootthiboon (right) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Food Engineering and Bioprocess Technology. Ms. Siriprapa, a Thai citizen, obtained her B.Sc. degree, major in Food Science, from Kasetsart University, Thailand in 2003. Ms. Siriprapa was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Food Engineering and Bioprocess Technology in August 2004 and completed her M.Sc. degree with a thesis entitled 'A Study of the Properties of Germinated Brown Rice and Its Producs'. Prior to joining AIT, Ms. Siriprapa worked as a Research at Kasetsart Agriculture and Agro-Industrial Products Improvement, Thailand.

The Albert Stevens Prize is awarded from funds provided in 1997 by the children of Dr. Albert Stevens, in memory of their father, a Pioneer of Industrial Microbiology in the Netherlands.

Batch 105's Alastair M. North Prize recipient is Ms. Felma Joy I. Tadios (left) in recognition of the outstanding academic performance in the field of Gender and Development Studies. Ms. Tadios, a Filipino citizen, obtained her B.A. degree, major in Social Science from the University of the Philippines, Mindanao in 2001. Mr. Tadios was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Gender and Development Studies in August 2004 and completed her M.Sc. degree with a thesis entitled 'Creating Zones of Comfort: The Experiences of Japanese Retirees on the Move'. Prior to joining AIT, Ms. Tadios worked as a Assistant Senior Economic Development Specialist at Mindanao Economic Development Council, Davao City, Philippines.

The Alastair M. North Prize was established from funds contributed by Professor Alastair M. North, former President of the Asian Institute of Technology.

Mr. Pokhrel was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Natural Resources Management in August 2004 and completed his M.Sc. degree with a thesis entitled 'Impact of Hills Leasehold Forestry and Forage Development Program in the Siwalik: A Case Study of Makwanpur District in Nepal'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Pokhrel worked as Planning Monitoring and Conducting Workshop with BISEP-ST/RSU, Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation, Nepal.

Mr. Kabir, a Bangladeshi citizen, obtained his M.Sc. degree, major in Geography & Environmental from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2000. Mr. Kabir was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Natural Resources Management in August 2004 and completed his M.Sc. degree with a thesis entitled 'Economic Importance of Wetland Resources and Community Participation: A Case Study in Tanguar Haor, Bangladesh'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Kabir worked as Lecturer with the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Mr. Amin, a Bangladeshi citizen, obtained his B.Sc. (Hons.) degree, major in Forestry from University of Chittagong, Bangladesh in 1990. Mr. Amin was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Natural Resources Management in August 2004 and completed his M.Sc. degree with a thesis entitled 'Social Forestry in the Matamuhuri Reserve Forests of the Chittagong Hill Tract, Bangladesh: Impacts and Implications'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Amin worked as Natural Forests Management with Ministry of Environment and Forest, Bangladesh.

The Tim Kendall Memorial Prize was established in 1981 from funds provided by the United Kingdom Appeal, in memory of Mr. R.M. (Tim) Kendall, member of the Board of Trustees from 1971 to 1981.

The Sukum Navapan Prize

Batch 105's Sukum Navapan Price recipient is Mr. Le Tien Dung (left) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Pulp and Paper Technology.
Mr. Dung, a Vietnamese citizen, obtained his B.Eng. degree, major in Chemistry Technology from Hanoi University of Technology, Vietnam in 1999. Mr. Dung was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Pulp and Paper Technology in August 2003 and completed his M.Eng degree with a thesis entitled 'Influence of Water Hardness and Silicate on Performance of Deinking Process and their the Scaling Potention'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Dung worked as Technician at Tanmai Paper Company Thong Nhat Ward Bienhoa City, Vietnam.

The Sukum Navapan Prize is awarded from funds provided in 1993 by Dr. Sukhum Navapan, Chairman of the Navatanee Group of Companies, member of the AIT Board of Trustees since 1992.


ARYUWATH PRATUMSA
James A. Linen III Memorial Prize

Batch 105's James A. Linen III Memorial Prize recipients is Mr. Aryuwath Pratumsa (right) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Regional and Rural Development Planning. Mr. Aryuwath, a Thai citizen, obtained his B.Sc. degree, major in Animal Science from Khon Kaen University, Thailand in 1996. Mr. Aryuwath was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Regional and Rural Development Planning in August 2003 and completed his M.Sc. degree with a thesis entitled 'Factors Influencing the Adoption of Agricultural Technology by Indigenous Farmers in the North of Thailand'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Aryuwath worked as Development Organization at Heifer International-Thailand, Chiang Mai, Thailand.

The James A. Linen III Memorial Prize was established in 1988 in memory of Mr. Jim Linen, a charter founding member and life member of the Board of Trustees.


NGUYEN MINH THU
The John A. Hrones Prize

Batch 105's John A. Hrones Prize recipient is Ms. Nguyen Minh Thu (left) in recognition of the outstanding academic performance in the field of Urban Environmental Management. Ms. Thu, a Vietnamese citizen, obtained her B.Sc. degree, major in Environmental Engineering from Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam in 2004. Ms. Thu was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Urban Environmental Management in August 2004 and completed her M.Sc. degree with a thesis entitled 'The Challenge of Urban River Governance in a Transition Economy: A Case Study of Saigon River in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam'.

The John A. Hrones Prize is awarded from funds provided in 1996 by the AIT Foundation Inc., U.S.A., in honor of the late Dr. Hrones, who served as a member of the AIT Board of Trustees from 1968 to 1998.

The Yoh Kurosawa Prize, funded by KEIDANREN, the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations, is presented in recognition of the best academic performance among women students of the graduating class.

The Wilhelm Hill Prize

Batch 105's Wilhelm Hill Prize recipient is Mr. Ashish Narayanan (left) in recognition of the outstanding academic performance among MBA students in the field of International Business.

Mr. Narayan, an Indian citizen, obtained his B.Eng. degree, major in Electronics & Telecommunication from Rani Durgavati University, India in 1992. Mr. Narayan was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Internatioal Business in August 2004 and completed his M.B.A. degree with a research study entitled 'Mergers & Acquisition Strategies Motives in the Telecom Sector'. Prior to joining AIT, Mr. Narayan worked as Deputy Advisor at Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

The Wilhelm Hill Prize was established in 1996 from funds contributed by Professor Wilhelm Hill, Head of the Strategic Studies Research and Publishing Unit, University of Basel, Switzerland, and a member of the AIT Board of Trustees from 1993 to 1999.
