HRH Princess Sirindhorn confers degrees upon 469 graduates

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the 105th graduation ceremony of the Asian Institute of Technology, held 24 May 2006 at Thailand Science Park Convention Center. This was the first time the Princess has conferred degrees at an international postgraduate institution. 469 graduates were awarded master's or doctoral degrees at the ceremony. A total of 538 from 26 countries graduated, with some not able to attend the ceremony.

The event was also graced by H.E. Mr. Anand Panyarachun, former Thailand Prime Minister and AIT Board of Trustees Chairman, as well as Gen. Dr. Boonsrang Niumpradit, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces and the AIT Alumni Association's president. During the graduation ceremony, Prof. Said Irandoust, AIT President delivered a graduating message, and Mr. Manavit Vinaipanit (Industrial Engineering and Management Field of Study, School of Engineering and Technology) gave the Most Outstanding Student Message. A 5-minute video presentaiton in honor of His Majesty the King's 60th Anniversary Accession to the Throne was shown. After the graduation ceremony, HRH Princess Sirindhorn had lunch with dignitaries, ambassadors, chairman of AIT Board of Trustees, president, vice presidents and high-ranking officials at the AIT Conference Center.
