COLOMBO, Sri Lanka – SriLankan Airlines’ International Aviation Academy has entered into a broad ranging partnership with the Asian Institute of Technology. This is the first time a postgraduate institution and an international airline have come to such an accord in the region.

Compared to the first half of 2005, energy consumption throughout AIT in the first half of 2006 is higher by 5 percent, or 1.08 million baht. January June 2005 consumption was 19.84 million baht, which rose to 20.92 million baht during the same period this year.

As part of the cost-saving measures, the number of outsourced janitorial staff working in the administration and academic areas has been reduced. The janitorial service hours are also being adjusted to improve the cleaning services and to allow janitors to have more time to perform their work.

From 26 June to7 July 2006, AIT organized an intensive training program on 'Integrated Disaster Management.' Funded by the John F. Kennedy Foundation of Thailand, the program provided education and training on key issues relating to disaster mitigation, with a focus on an integrated approach.

AIT alumnus Andi, ST., M.Eng.,Ph.D was selected to be the second best winner in the Best Achievement Lecturers Award that was held by Indonesia 's National Education Department for Private Higher Institutions area VII.
Dr. Andi graduated from AIT in 1998 with a master's in engineering in Construction Engineering and Management.
