Indian workshop advocates solid waste management
A workshop held in Chennai, India, suggested the solution to the problem of municipal solid waste management lies in source segregation, reports a 22 August 2006 story in The Hindu newspaper. The workshop was jointly sponsored by the Centre for Environmental Studies, Ann University, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency and AIT.
Prof. C. Visvanathan of Environmental Engineering & Management in the School of Environment, Resources and Development noted the open dumping common in Asian countries increasingly impacts society, culture, health and the environment.
