De La Salle University administrators and students visit
On 1 September 2006, 19 students from Political Science or Development Studies, De La Salle University - Manila, Philippines, accompanied by Mr. Allen B. Surla (above, second from right), vice chairman, Political Science Department, visited AIT.
The visit was part of an educational tour to Thailand for the students whose major interest was to scout graduate schools in the region to further their studies. Mr. Surla is a 1994 graduate of the Human Resettlement Development Division, School of Environment, Resources and Development.
These students may enroll in AIT's School of Environment, Resources and Development or School of Management next year.
The group was welcomed by AIT administration and faculty, led by Prof. Vilas Wuwongse, vice president for external relations. Joining Prof. Vilas in welcoming the students were Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, head of external relations; Mrs. Ann Lopez Fontanilla, head, Student Office; and Mrs. Hnin Aye Lwin, External Relations and Communications Office.
During their visit to AIT, the students from De La Salle University toured the School of Environment, Resources and Development and the School of Management and were briefed on the curriculum by Prof. I.M. Pandey, SOM dean; Ms. Sandhya Pradhan, manager, International Relations and Exchange Program, SOM; Mr. Anupam Das, senior program associate, SOM; Dr. Kyoko Kusakabe of Gender and Development Studies, SERD; and Dr. Wenresti Gallardo of Aquaculture & Aquatic Resources Management, SERD.
