Transportation Engineering welcomes two adjunct faculty members

The Transportation Engineering field of study at the School of Engineering and Technology again welcomes Dr. Prapansak Buranaprapa and Dr. Takashi Nakatsuji as adjunct faculty members for the August 2006 semester.


Dr. Prapansak of Thailand is teaching a course on Transportation System. He has been an adjunct faculty for teaching Design and Performance of Highway and Airport Pavement, and Highway and Pavement Engineering in Transportation Engineering Field since 1980.

Dr. Prapansak earned his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Chulalongkorn University in 1965, his master's of Engineering in Water Resources Engineering from SEATO Graduate School of Engineering (now AIT) in 1967 and his Ph.D. in Transportation and Traffic Engineering from Oklahoma State University, U.S.A., in 1980. He has been working in the Thai Department of Highways, Ministry of Transport, and Meteorological Department from 1965 – 2004. He has also been involved in other organizations such as the Thai Society for Transportation Studies, Chi Epsilon, Metropolitan Rapid Transit Authority, Office of the Commission for the Management of Land Traffic, and Thailand Global Road Safety Partnership Foundation.


Dr. Nakatsuji of Japan teaching the course on Traffic Engineering. He came to AIT as a Japan International Cooperation Agency expert and taught the course on Urban/Regional Transportation Analysis and Planning Methods from 1997 to 1999. He has been visiting AIT in recent years for short courses and special lectures. He provided the self study guide, 'Traffic Simulation Software,' together with late Prof. Yordphol Tanaboriboon for AIT students. He has also supervised many master's and doctoral students.

Dr. Nakatsuji earned his bachelor's of Engineering in 1973, masters of Engineering in 1975 and doctor of Engineering in 1992 from Hokkaido University, Japan. He was a researcher of Ministry of Transport in Japan, and a visiting researcher in many universities including Tomakomai Technical College, Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg and AIT. He is currently an associate professor of the Graduate School of Engineering, Hokkaido University. He has also been a committee member with the Transportation Research Board, Society of Automobile Engineers, and Japanese Society of Civil Engineers. His research expertise includes traffic engineering, traffic flow simulation, winter road maintenance, and traffic accident reconstruction.
