Alumni Association president promoted to Thai supreme commander


Gen. Dr. Boonsrang Niumpradit, president of AIT Alumni Association (AITAA), was promoted to Supreme Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, effective 1 October 2006.

Gen. Boonsrang received his doctorate in structural engineering from AIT in 1978 and his master's of science in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1972.


Outgoing Supreme Commander Gen. Ruengroj Mahasaranont officially hands over power to
his successor Gen. Dr. Boonsrang Niumpradit at the Supreme Command Headquarters.

His patriotism and commitment to his country are reflected in his illustrious military career which included among other distinguished positions commanding more than 8,000 peacekeepers from 36 countries in East Timor which he considers one of his most memorable.

congratulated Ben. Dr. Boonsrang, president of the AIT Alumni Association,
on his appointment as Supreme Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces.

Gen. Boonsrang, who took over as President of the AITAA from January of this year, has been working closely with AIT on various initiatives including AIT’s fund-raising campaign. The AIT community wishes Gen. Boonsrang success in this very important and challenging position.
