Asia-Link Symposium to be held in November

The Asia-Link Symposium Organizing Committee invites interested persons to participate in the Asia-Link Symposium in Bangkok on 10 November 2006. The Symposium, which will gather 150-200 key higher education stakeholders from Asia and the European Union (EU), will provide a platform for high-level dialogue and an opportunity to learn about EU supporting mechanisms and programmes.

Electric Power System Management in the Energy field of study is organizing a training workshop on 'Electricity Pricing and Risk Management' during 1-3 November 2006 at the AIT Conference Center.

The training course covers the following topics: Pricing of Renewable Energy Resources; Fuel Adjustment Tariff Structure: A Case of Thailand; Generation Asset Valuation and Risk Analysis; Project Risk Management; Interrupted Energy Assessment Rate and Reliability; Improvement in Thai Power System; Very Small SPP Pricing and Policy; Renewable Portfolio Standard; Centralized Generation Scheduling in Competitive Environment; Electricity Price Regulation; Transmission and Distribution System Pricing; Integrated Resource Planning; Organization and Finance of Power Utility; Technical Visit.

Capacity-building agreement with Nepal to be signed

On 10 October 2006, Mr. Balananda Poudel, secretary, Ministry of Education and Culture, Nepal, will witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the National Centre for Educational Development (NCED), Nepal, and AIT for the implementation of the Institutional Capacity Building Plan for NCED.

The agreement, which was initially signed in Nepal by Mr. Ram S. Sinha, executive director, NCED, will be signed by AIT President Said Irandoust.

Starting 4 October 2006, an external vendor now comes to the Cafeteria every first and third Wednesday of the month to sell Filipino foods and other international cuisine. This vendor sells ready-to-eat, take-home foods such as chicken pie, tuna pie, beef burger, chicken burger, brownies, potato chicken salad and bread and pastries at affordable prices.
