Training program focuses on public health in emergencies
The Asian Disaster Preparedness Center, through its Public Health in Emergencies Team, will conduct the international training program on Public Health in Complex Emergencies in Asia, to be held from 8 to 20 May 2006 in Bangkok.

UNESCO delegates� visit to concentrate on regional water issues
� The visit will strengthen the long-standing
relationship and cooperation between UNESCO and
AIT. The delegates will have several meetings
with the AIT administration and will discuss the
establishment of centers of excellence for education,
capacity building and research in water resources
management and nanotechnology at AIT, and collaboration
among AIT, UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education,
and UNESCO, under the framework of the IHP, Water
Sciences and Natural Sciences of UNESCO.In addition, the following three activities
are being organized at AIT during that period:
� UNESCO IHP 'PCCP South and Southeast
Asia Brainstorming Meeting' on 21 April
2006 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the AIT Conference

Prof. Sudip Rakshit, vice president for research, announced a competition of the best research theses among the AIT graduating students in May 2006.
The competition will promote an atmosphere of research in the institute, acknowledge and showcase outstanding research conducted by students.

Dr. Eric Ruiz, an AIT alumnus (WRE '92) and former Information Scientist of IFIC, graduated in March 2006 with a PhD in Civil Engineering from the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia.

Outline proposals are invited for climate change adaptation projects to participate in the Advancing Capacity to Support Climate Change Adaptation project.
The project seeks to bring together stakeholders and scientific communities in the developing world to enable and support effective adaptation decisions that would reduce vulnerability to climate and environmental change while also promoting sustainable development.

AIT's Student Union announces the 'Bangkok International Latin Culture
Festival' from 21 to 23 April 2006.
This cultural event, the first in its kind in Thailand, takes advantage of
the growing interest in the Latin culture and an expanding number of people
enjoying Latin music and dance expressions around Asia.
