Pacific Rim workshop calls for papers

Submissions of papers are welcomed to the Ninth Pacific Rim International Workshop on Multi-Agents, a series of workshops on autonomous agents and multi-agent systems, integrating the activities in Asia and Pacific Rim countries to be held in Guilin, China, from 7 to 8 August 2006.

PRIMA2006 will bring together Asian and Pacific Rim researchers and developers from academia and industry to report on the latest technical advances or domain applications and to discuss and explore scientific and practical problems as raised by the participants.

Lectures explore spirituality, technology and role of business in the 21st century

On 10 April 2006, AIT will host Her Holiness Maa Sai Lakshmi Devi to lecture on 'Spirituality and Technology' and Ms. Marilyn Tam to subsequently lecture on 'The Role of Business in the 21st Century.

Doctoral Thesis Presented
Mr. Anan Suebsomran (MTC007307), a candidate for the degree of Doctor of Engineering in the Mechatronics FoS, School of Engineering and Technology, will have his final examination on Tuesday, 11 April 2006 at 10 a.m. in Room 234, Chalerm Prakiat Building.

eLearning Project initiatives take shape

The School of Management eLearning Project team lead by Dr. Sundar Venkatesh, met with Vice President for Academic Affairs Prof. Peter Haddawy recently.

The team included Dr. Ulrich Bernath and Mr. Axel Kleinschmidth, from the Center for Distance Education, Carl von Ossietzky of the University of Oldenburg, Germany.

Israeli ambassador talks of opportunities to cooperate

AIT's president, vice president for research and the deans of schools welcomed the ambassador to AIT. Ambassador Rubinstein her delight to know about the various program offered at AIT. The ambassador also mentioned that she was impressed by the internationality of AIT, which is not experienced in other academic institutions in other parts of the world.

External Relations looking bright

The External Relations and Communications Office had a busy week forging new relationships with representatives from Thai and international organizations and governments:

Chulachomklao Military Academy -- A delegation from the Chulachomklao Military Academy visited AIT on 24 March 2006, to sign an agreement collaborating in the fields of joint research activities, training, exchange of faculty members for research, lectures and discussions.

UNDP offers human development fellowships
The Asia Pacific Regional Human Development Initiative Regional Centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka, which is part of the United Nations Development Program announced the opening of two types of human development fellowships for citizens of Asia Pacific countries.

Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management gets acting coordinator
Prof. Sivanappan Kumar, dean of the School of Environment, Resources and Development, appointed Dr. Amararatne Yakupitiyage as acting coordinator of Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management field of study, effective 15 March 2006. His appointment followed the recommendations of the faculty members in that field of study.

Infrastructure Office announces biggest energy consumers
The Infrastructure Office identified AIT's top 10 energy consumers for the months of January and February 2006. Data shows that in January, the School of Environment, Resources and Development ranked first with a total consumption of 422,486 baht.
