On 9 January His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Thailand graciously presented the “Best Engineering Student Achievement Medal” to 45 senior students who were selected by the Engineering Institute of Thailand (EIT). These students rank first in their respective fields of study from all universities in Thailand, all with a cumulative GPA of 3.60 or higher.
Fourteen of the students committed to further their studies at the Asian Institute of Technology in the August 2007 semester after a visit to the institute earlier the same day at the invitation of Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, dean of AIT’s School of Engineering and Technology (SET), and vice president of EIT. These students who are qualified to receive full-fee Royal Thai Government fellowships were offered the fellowships on the spot during the visit to AIT. Of the 14 students, three will join the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), three will join School of Management, and eight will join SET.
During the visit, the students were briefed about AIT, the programs available in three schools as well as student life in AIT. The students then were divided into groups to visit the laboratories of their interest. The students were impressed with AIT’s academic atmosphere and the close attention of AIT faculty toward individual students. All of them have agreed to serve as AIT ambassadors to inform their classmates of this top-echelon institution here in Thailand.
