AIT, Government of Germany renew relationship

AIT and the Government of Germany are renewing their relationship as discussed during Ms. Hannelore Bossmann (above right), Head of the South-East-Asia Section of DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in Bonn, Germany, accompanied by Mr. Jan Stevener (seen below, left), Director of DAAD, Information Center in Bangkok, visited to AIT on 1 March 2007. From the discussion between DAAD delegates and the AIT Administration, AIT will soon be submitting a proposal for consideration by DAAD outlining specific areas in which there could be cooperation.

DAAD also earmarked scholarships for nationals from Myanmar, Lao PDR and Cambodia who can apply to AIT through the German Embassy in their respective countries. Other possibilities include the DAAD scholarships (sandwich program) for doctoral studies wherein students would spend one year at AIT and the remaining period in Germany, including taking German language courses. DAAD further has a visiting professorship program under which DAAD seconded faculty could be assigned to AIT.
