H.E. Mr. Jonas Hafstrom (above), Ambassador of Sweden, was designated as the new Chairman of the Executive Committee by Dr. Tej Bunnag, Chairman of AIT Board of Trustees at the meeting of the Executive Committee held on 2 March 2007. H.E. Mr. Hafstrom succeeds H.E. Mr. Laurent Aublin, Ambassador France.

The meeting was also attended by H.E. Mr. Denis Comeau, Mr. Maris Samaram. H.E. Mr. J.D.A. Wijewardena, Khunying Jada Wattanasiritham and Professor Said Irandoust, AIT President; Professor Vilas Wuwongse, Professor Sudip Rakshit, and Professor Peter Haddawy.
The meeting was also the last one for several long-serving members of the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees which included: H.E. Mr. J. D. A. WijewardenaH.E. Mr. Denis Comeau (Ambassador of Canada), Ambassador Jan Axel Nordlander (Special Envoy for Human Rights, Department of International Law, Treaty Law and Human Rights, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sweden) and Professor Ashoka Chandra (Chairman, Engineering Council of India). Special plaques of appreciation were presented and the Board Chair and President expressed on behalf of the Executive Committee and AIT Community their gratitude to the outgoing members for their valuable contributions made to the institute.
