AIT and Chalmers University, Sweden, jointly develop a proposal for collaboration in geo-engineering education

AIT in partnership with Chalmers University, Sweden is currently developing a proposal for collaboration in the area of geo-engineering (which could also be expanded to water engineering). Many of the geotechnical and foundation problems encountered in the lowlands in Southeast Asia are similar to those dealt with in Sweden, due in part to similar geological conditions. The proposed educational approach to geotechnical engineering will include analysis as well as design, with an emphasis on giving the students problem solving capabilities through focus on real world problems.

Under the proposed scheme students enrolled at AIT, are expected to spend the first year at AIT and the second year at Chalmers, while students enrolled at Chalmers may spend one and a half years at Chalmers and a half year at AIT.
