AIT President attends a meeting to strengthen APEID and its Networks
AIT President Said Irandout attended the opening ceremony of Strengthening APEID and Its Networks: Planning Meeting for the 8th Program Cycle held on 15-17 May 2007 at Imperial Queen's Park Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. Vice President for Development and Resources Dr. Ir. Khin Ni Ni Thein also participated in the 3-day-planning meeting in order to contribute ideas and to provide a platform for AIT to play a role under the umbrella of the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD 2005-2014).
The meeting reviewed the 7th Programme Cycle (2002- 2007) and explored strategies for strengthening APEID network and prepared the new Framework of Action for the 8th Programme Cycle, which will begin next year for a period of six years. AIT will play a significant role in the 8th Programme Cycle of APEID.
APEID stands for the Asia-Pacific Programme of Educational Innovation for Development which was launched in 1972. The 8th Programme Cycle will coincide with the UNESCO Medium Term Strategy (2008-2013).
