AIT to prepare BAT/BEP Forum action plans
AIT will play a major role in preparation of the regional and sub-regional BAT/BEP (Best Available Techniques and Best Environmental Practices) Forum action plans, in close consultation with member states. The intention on this matter was discussed during the visit of Ms. Ayumi Fujino, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Representative and Head of Regional Office in Thailand, to AIT on 3 May 2007. She was welcomed by AIT President Said Irandoust, Professor Vilas Wuwongse, Vice President for External Relations, Professor S. Kumar, Dean, SERD, Prof. Ajit Annachhatre and Prof. Chongrak Polprasert.
During the meeting, AIT representatives presented the strengths of the Institute especially with reference to the setting up of the East and Southeast Asia BAT/BEP Forum, which was proposed at the first consultative meeting held in March 2007.
Ms. Fujino considers AIT a partner in this important undertaking. During the meeting, she provided useful insights and offered to assist in furthering linkages with other networks.
