On 26 April 2007, the Golden Jubilee Fundraising Campaign (GJFC) team under the leadership of Dr. Ir. Khin Ni Ni Thein, Vice President for Development and Resources organized a ceremony to present the badges and certificates to the newly confirmed AIT Student Ambassadors, Student Sport Ambassador, Student Project Leaders and Student Fundraising Team Members.
This was indeed an auspicious occasion as it was the first time in the history of AIT that a concentrated effort has been initiated by AIT to establish a fundraising masterplan and campaign for the Institute. The fundraising campaign will be launched at AIT celebrating 50 years of excellence in providing post graduate education to the region in September 2009.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Ni Ni congratulates the awardees of the above 4 categories, and mentioned that this ceremony is a milestone in the history of AIT, and through the passage of time the benefits of this campaign will bear fruits both in intangible and tangible results to AIT. Dr Ni Ni further mentioned that today we are gathering here in the presence of our AIT President Prof Said Irandoust, with strong determination, enthusiasm, goodwill and confidence to mobilize resources for AIT for its sustainability and continued services to the region.
The presence of President Irandoust was deeply appreciated by all those present and in President Irandoust speech he stressed on the most important role student's play as a key stakeholder of AIT, as without student's, there is no AIT. President Irandoust also mentioned the responsibility that comes with the titles as you are projecting the image of AIT to the world, hence it is essential to be of sound and unblemished character and good conscience when representing AIT.
President Irandoust then went on to mention the 6 major strategies of the GJFC, under which various activities will take place during 2007-2009. The six broad strategies are:
Meet/interact/solicit support from the 100 Richest and Famous persons in Asia and world,
Meet/interact/solicit support from private sectors, corporations and foundations Relationship building with all stakeholders including 100 richest individuals, Corporations/ Foundations/ Governments/ Private and Public Sectors, Theme related fundraising-based on the institute's thematic areas of the 5 years SDP AIT Image Building Re-connecting and solidarity building with AIT Alumni Association, Mother Chapter, National Chapters and individual alumni
In his concluding comments President Irandoust reconfirmed that the GJFC in order to be successful needs the support of all AIT stakeholders and partners must take responsibility in achieving the strategies of the campaign since it is a team effort. Therefore the contributions, suggestions, and advice of all students is important and will be gratefully acknowledged by this administration.
