UNITAR and STWA delegations visit AIT
Mr. Nico Barito, Senior Fellow at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), who was at AIT last weekend together with Mr. Donald Goh, Board Director of Save the World Air - STWA (www.stwa.com), Singapore were warmly welcomed by AIT President Said Irandoust, and Professor Sudip K. Rakshit, Vice President for Research. Mr. Goh, who formerly worked with the Ministry of Environment in Singapore, is interested in exploring possibilities of collaboration with AIT on clean air initiatives, possibly in partnership with the Pollution Control Department of the Ministry of Environment of Thailand. Dr. Animesh Dutta from the Energy Program also attended the meeting, and there are good prospects for partnerships in some areas.
Mr. Nico, who also serves as a member of the AIT Center in Indonesia Steering Committee chaired by the Minister of Public Works, also met with Mr. Gyanendra Sthapit, Manager and Acting Director of the Habitech Center, School of Engineering and Technology, offering to assist in linkages with UN Habitat and UNITAR on some joint initiatives.
Mr. Nico accompanied AIT President to a dinner meeting that same evening with AIT trustee H.E. Mr. Ibrahim Yusuf, Ambassador of Indonesia to Thailand, during which they were able to update the Ambassador on some recent developments at AIT and also discussed the draft AIT Charter.
