Alumni Holds First Brainstorming Meeting
On 28 May 2007, the first Alumni Brainstorming Meeting was held with the most senior alumnus Prof. Subin Pinkayan. Higher Education Commission, Pakistan considers AIT Charter
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan has agreed to positively consider the ratification of the proposed AIT Charter, especially considering the modified contribution clause to be accompanied by an appropriate level of contribution.
Workshop on 'Good Governance in Universities in the 21st Century'
On 22 May 2007, AIT President Said Irandoust participated in the opening ceremony of a workshop on 'Good Governance in Universities in the 21st Century' for senior management officials of Pakistani Universities, sponsored by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan.
Student Ceremonies and Reception
AIT President Said Irandoust attended an appreciation ceremony organized by the Student Union (SU) at the AIT Conference Center on 21 May. According to AIT President, voluntary work is an important aspect during student life and he would like to credit the SU for organizing this event and all the students who have been actively engaged and worked voluntarily in numerous SU initiatives.
AITAA from Nepal and Bangladesh hold Meetings with AIT President
On 23 May 2007, Mr. Kishore Shakya, AITAA Nepal Chapter representative discussed with AIT President Said Irandoust, on the AITAA Nepal proposal to host an international conference on 'Knowledge Management for Sustainable Development' to be jointly undertaken by AIT and the AITAA Mother Chapter.
SOM Board Meeting
The second meeting of AIT's School of Management (SOM) Board was held on 24 May 2007. It was chaired by Mr. Narayana N. R. Murthy, Chairman of the Board and Chief Mentor, Infosys, India and attended by external members Mr. John W. Hancock, Honorary Chairman and Senior Advisor, Baker and Mckenzie Co. Ltd.
Kamphuan Memorial Tsunami Education Museum in Ranong Province Inaugurated
Scores of local residents from 2004 tsunami affected communities attended the opening of Kamphuan Memorial Tsunami Education museum recently. The community center and meeting halls are part of the Post-Tsunami Sustainable Livelihoods Program, sponsored by U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by AIT (SERD, AARM), Coastal Resources Center/ University of Rhode Island and University of Hawaii (Hilo). The aim of this program is to help improve tsunami affected communities’ economies and give residents skills and resources necessary for self recovery.
H.E. Mr. Pieter Marres succeeds H.E. Mr. Jonas Hafstrom as the next Chairman of Executive Committee
AIT trustee and member of the Executive Committee, H.E. Mr. Pieter Marres, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Thailand, has been appointed as the next Chairman of the Executive Committee, succeeding H.E. Mr. Jonas Hafstrom, Ambassador of Sweden.
