Pakistani Universities Interested in Collaborating with AIT on Curriculum Development and Research
Two universities in Pakistan--University of Science & Technology (UST), and University of Gujrat (UG) have expressed strong interest in collaborating with AIT in curriculum development and research during the meeting of AIT President Said Irandoust, Prof. Tawatchai Tingsanchali, and Dr. Pritam K. Shrestha, Head, External Relations & Communications Office, with Dr. Asmatullah Khan, UST Vice Chancellor, University of Science & Technology and Dr. Muhammed Nizamuddin, UG Vice Chancellor on 29 May 2007.
As part of their faculty development efforts UST plans to send 5 to 6 faculty members to pursue their Ph.D. at AIT in August 2007 (2 or 3 in SOM, 2 in the computer science field of study, 1 in telecommunications, and 1 in the biotechnology field of study).
The Vice Chancellor of UG is interested in collaborating with AIT in curriculum development and research for faculty and student development with emphasis on practical problem solving or internships with industries in the areas around Gujrat. The University which is still under establishment will open in September 2007. AIT has been invited to take part in the curriculum development and teaching courses at the university. They are now recruiting candidates for doctoral and master's programs at AIT, and UG also plans to send their top students to take master's courses at AIT for one or two semesters. The same cost structure as agreed with HEC will be applied. Training courses will also be discussed in the future for short term trainings in upgrading UG faculty and staff.
External Relations and Communications Officer will assist in drafting MoUs and MoAs for both universities which will be sent to the concerned schools for finalizing.
