Visit of UNEP Korea and Korean kids
On 9 August 2007, President Said Irandoust welcomed Ms. Hyun JinJeon, Programme Coordinator, Team of Youth and Children, UNEP National Committee for the Republic of Korea, who spent the day at AIT with around 30 Korean school children during her visit to Thailand.
Laptop for students
Due to extensive use of IT facilities and e-resources required by students during their studies, starting from the August 2007 intake, all incoming students will be required to have their own laptop computer which would enable them to access e-resources from anywhere.
A Thai Course for beginners
The Language Center is organizing a Thai Course called 'Beginner's Level Thai' from 28 August - 9 October 2007 for every Tuesday and Thursday 5:00-6:30 pm, for a total of 20 hours. (Two 1.5 hr classes per week)
Course Fee: 1,500 baht for the AIT Community
Maximum class size: 20 persons
Minimum class size: 10 persons

August Semester French Classes
French language courses will start on Monday 27 August. Classes will be 90-min sessions, twice a week for 8 weeks.
Fees: 250 Bt
Three courses available:
1. Conversational French 1 (full beginner)
2. Conversational French
3. Reading in French (open to all level including beginner)

IDRC call for proposals in IP issues
Canada's International Development Research Center (IDRC) has issued a call for proposals on 'Accessing Patented Knowledge for Innovation'.
This call for proposals is limited to developing country institutions.
Meetings of Audit and Executive Committee
Following the Audit and Executive Committee meetings held on 6 August 2007, there has been positive feedback from the Audit Committee itself on the improvements that have been made to the Institute's overall financial control and monitoring processes and systems.
AIT President attends ASEAN Forum 2007 in Indonesia
On 7 August 2007, AIT President Said Irandoust participated in the ASEAN Forum 2007, held at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta. H.E. Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, President of the Republic of Indonesia, delivered the keynote speech at the event which had the theme 'Rethinking ASEAN, Towards ASEAN Community 2015'. Also participating at the event were the ASEAN Secretary General; the Executive Director of the ASEAN Foundation; the Minister of ICT and Commerce of Indonesia; the UN Special Ambassador for the Millennium Development Goals in Asia and the Pacific; and leading companies and NGO representatives.
President meets with the officials of the Ministry of Education, Indonesia
On 8 August 2007, President Irandoust met with Dr. Ir. Gatot Hari Priowirjanto, Head Bureau of Planning and International Cooperation, Ministry of National Education, to finalize discussions regarding the involvement of AIT in a new scholarship scheme launched by the Government of Indonesia.
