Visit by Pakistan's SUPARCO leads to possible collaboration
AIT and Pakistan's Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) recently discussed collaboration on faculty development programs, such as two-stage master's degree programs, doctoral and master's degree programs, and short-term faculty visits by the National Institute of RS and GIS to AIT, during the visit of Major General (Retd) Raza Hussain, Chairman of Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) on 23 July 2007. He was accompanied by AIT trustee H.E. Lt. General (Retired) Khateer Hassan Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to Thailand.
SUPARCO would also like AIT to assist in its curriculum development and partner AIT through joint projects and research activities. The Chairman indicated that in a follow-up to his visit he would be sending a team of faculty members from SUPARCO and the National Institute of RS and GIS to visit AIT in the near future.
The Chairman indicated that his visit to Thailand was solely for the purpose of coming to AIT to look into areas in which there could be collaboration. He said he was greatly influenced by the excellent performance of some AIT alumni currently working at SUPARCO who have made a strong impact and positive contribution to the organization.
