AIT enters Sustainable Development Partnership Initiative with Indonesian enterprise PTDI
AIT has signed a 'Sustainable Development Partnership Initiative' with P.T. Damba Intra (PTDI), a public-private enterprise, founded under a partnership initiative with the Government of West Java, Indonesia. PTDI specializes in hazardous and communal waste treatment facilities for both liquid and solid disposal.
The agreement was signed on 24 August by Mr. Maudhy Setiawan, Director of PTDI. Professor S. Kumar, Dean, School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) and Mr. Nico Barito also participated in the signing ceremony and ensuing discussions.
PTDI is interested to cooperate with AIT in areas related to the academic work of SERD, specifically: treatment of suspended solids (sludge) from textile factories and pulp and paper mills for productive applications; treatment (including segregation) of liquid community wastes; and incineration of wastes from communities and municipalities for heating and electricity generation purposes.
PTDI also serves as a funding partner to the United Nations Institute for Training and Research’s (UNITAR) capacity building program for local governments and civil societies, regarding responsible fishery and mangrove preservation.
