On 1 February, Prof. Said Irandoust, AIT President, attended the MoU signing ceremony on the establishment of a "Services Science Collaboration Program" held at the Government House. The program is part of the Government of Thailand and IBM Thailand initiative to further develop and strengthen the service science discipline and manpower in the country. The event was participated by Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, H.E. Mr. Kosit Panpiemras, along with the Ministers of ICT, Education and Science & Technology attended on behalf of the government. The Executive Vice President, IBM Corporation and the Thailand Country General Manager represented IBM at the event.
AIT was the only institute invited to participate under the "international academic institute" category and was officially recognized as such in the MoU. The other participating institutions included Thammasat University, Chulalongkorn University, Mahanakorn University of Technology, Rangsit University, Rattan Bandit University, Silpakorn University, Sripatum University, the Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA), and the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA).
Prof. Vilas Wuwongse, Vice President, External Relations, has played an instrumental role in this important initiative which provides an excellent opportunity for the institute to contribute to the work of its host country Thailand in developing this area academically and nurturing experts in close collaboration with academic and research institutions in the country as well as the private sector.
