Board Nominating Committee Meeting held
A meeting of the Board Nominating Committee was held on 23 August 2007 in Board Chairman Dr. Tej Bunnag's office at The Privy Council Chambers, Saranrom Palace Gardens, Bangkok. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Tej and attended by H.E. Mr. Hideaki Kobayashi, Ambassador of Japan; Dr. Malee Suwana-adth, Senior Advisor, National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology; and Professor Ram M. Shrestha, Chairman of the Academic Senate.
The Nominating Committee reviewed the current membership of the Board of Trustees and its Committees, membership changes and updates, and considered new nominations which will be submitted for consideration by the Board of Trustees at its next meeting on 6 September 2007.
After the meeting of the Nominating Committee, AIT President Said Irandoust also met separately with Ambassador Kobayashi to discuss the draft AIT Charter and the president's forthcoming visit to Japan which has been facilitated through the Japanese Embassy. AIT greatly values the support and contribution by the Government of Japan, and considers it to be among the Institute's most important partners. In this context, the AIT President was deeply encouraged by Ambassador Kobayashi's support in principle to the Institute's proposed new Charter.
