SERD welcomes visiting faculty

The School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) welcomes three visiting Faculty - Dr. D.C. Saxena, Dr. Roongruang Kalasirisilp, Dr. Ambika P. Gautam who recently joined AIT.

Dr. D.C. Saxena, Assistant Professor at Department of Food Technology, Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET), Longowal, India, joined AIT as a visiting faculty in Food Engineering and Bioprocess Technology, seconded by the Indian government for the August 2007 semester. He received his B. Tech. and M. Tech from H.B.T.I., Kanpur in 1990 and Ph.D. (Food Tech) from C.F.T.R.I., Mysore in 1997.

Dr. Roongruang Kalasirisilp, an Assistant Professor at Agricultural Machinery Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Pathumthani, Thailand, since 2000, joined AIT as a visiting Assistant Professor in the Agricultural Systems and Engineering Field of Study, for the period 14 August to 31 December 2007. He received his B. Eng. from Kasetsart University in 1988, M. Eng. in 1993 and D. Eng. (Agricultural Engineering) from AIT in 2000.

Dr. Ambika P. Gautam, has joined SERD as a visiting Faculty in the Natural Resources Management Field of Study. Dr. Ambika obtained his Post-Graduate Diploma in Forest Survey from International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation, The Netherlands in 1996, and MSc and PhD in Natural Resources Management from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand in 1999 and 2002, respectively. Prior to joining AIT, he worked with His Majesty's Government of Nepal for several years as a Director of Nepal Forestry Resources and Institutions. His current research work focuses on community-based forest management and human dimension of changes in biophysical environment. He has made integrated use of biological and social research methods, in most of his researches with extensive application of remote sensing and GIS technologies. At AIT, Dr. Ambika will be involved mainly teaching the courses on 'Ecological Principles for Natural Resources Management' and 'Forestry'.
