A Memoradum of Understanding between AIT and Speck Systems Ltd. (SSL), Hyderabad, India., was signed during a one-day visit to India by Prof. Said Irandoust, AIT President, on 19 February 2007. The MoU covers the agreement that SSL will sponsor two employees for studies/research per year (starting from the August 2007 intake), leading to a master’s degree in Remote Sensing & Geographic Information Systems (RS&GIS) at AIT. The students under this agreement will spend two semesters at AIT and two semesters thesis work at Speck. Established in 1980, the SSL has evolved as a pioneer in the field of geo-spatial technology and applications in India.
AIT and SSL will likewise be undertaking joint training, consultancy, and bidding for projects in the Asian region. Dr. Nitin Tripathi from the RS&GIS field of study, School of Engineering and Technology (SET) has been instrumental in this initiative.
During the trip to India, Prof. Irandoust, together with Professor I. M. Pandey, Dean, School of Management, had a meeting and discussed the areas of collaboration with the House of Pearl, which is setting up a business school in Delhi. AIT President also met with Mr. Ashok Ghosh, Rector of Singhania University to discuss the partnership through the unified bachelors-masters program.
