On 18 October 2007, AIT President Said Irandoust, along with Professor Kazi Ahmed, met with Dr. Masayuki Fujise, Director of the National Institute of Information and Communication Technology (NiCT) Asia Research Center. NiCT has been a strong supporter of AIT partnering us in various R&D collaborative programs since 1998. NiCT celebrated their 5th anniversary in Thailand and also signed a MoA with the Ministry of Science and Technology on 25 October 2007, in Bangkok.

Partnership with the Foundation for International Human Resource Development
On 18 October 2007, AIT President Said Irandoust, along with Dr. Nitin Tripathi met with Professor Dr. Chira Hongladarom, Secretary General of the Foundation for International Human Resource Development. Professor Chira is interested to discuss further the possibility of AIT partnering the Foundation in capacity building through training programs in important areas such as effects of globalization, tourism, energy and environment, agriculture, and SMEs. The AIT President invited Professor Chira to deliver a seminar / workshop at AIT on pedagogical thinking in the context of developing training programs for professionals.
Delegation from State Universities and College Presidents, Philippines, visit AIT
On 17 October 2007, the AIT administration welcomed a delegation of State Universities and College Presidents and Faculty Members from the Bicol Region, Philippines, who were in Thailand as part of an international benchmarking visit. AIT President Said Irandoust was able to update them of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) plans to support two-stage master's programs, and he encouraged them to approach DOST for this purpose.

AIT and Cambodia’s ITC high on French cooperation agenda
On 18 October 2007, the Institute received the visit of Dr. Moncef Meddeb, Advisor to the Administration of the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC). AIT President Said Irandoust personally met him, together with Dr. Pritam K. Shrestha, Head ERCO, and Mr. Jean-Philippe Thouard, Advisor to the administration.

During the "Underground Economy" workshop recently organized by AIT's Internet Education and Research Laboratory (intERLab), AIT President Said Irandoust along with Dr. Naveed Anwar met with Mr. Ammar Jaffri, Project Director in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) of Pakistan, who is one of the workshop's resource persons.

26 October: AIT-TU-NSTDA Sports Day
Dr Edward Webb, Chair of the Organizing Committee, and the rest of the team, have made excellent preparations leading up to the AIT, Thammasat University (TU) and the National Science & Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Sports Day event which will be hosted by NSTDA on 26 October 2007. Many more of AITians are encouraged to participate in this event, which will help further strengthen AIT's relationships with its neighboring institutions.

Gender and Development Studies Field of Study, School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), will organize a seminar on “Debt, Mobility and Dependency in Southeast Asia: The Case of Cambodian Migrant Workers in Thailand” by Dr. Annuska Derks, on Thursday, 25 October 2007, 4:00 – 5:30 p.m., Room – E 220.
Dr. Annuska Derks obtained M.A. degrees in social anthropology and development studies and a Ph.D. in social sciences from the Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
