AIT has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges (DICE), Ministry of Education, People Republic of China. The agreement was signed on 27 September 2007, at a reception marking the 58th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China, which was hosted by H.E. Mr. Zhang Jiuhuan, Ambassador of the China to Thailand.
Under the MoU, DICE will provide ten full scholarships for Chinese doctoral students, who are working in China, to pursue their studies at AIT. The scholarships are for any field of study offered at the three Schools of AIT and will be spread over a three-year period, starting from the January 2008 intake.
AIT received the support and assistance from the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, through necessary coordination with the Ministry of Education in Beijing. AIT’s Dr. Xiaoyong Chen, a faculty member of the Remote Sensing and GIS field of study, School of Engineering and Technology, played an instrumental role in facilitating this agreement.
