Through the invitation of the Minister of Urban Development and Sacred Areas Development of Sri Lanka, Vice President Khin Ni Ni Thien visited Sri Lanka from 25-30 August 2007. The vice president had an opportunity to have an audience with the President and the First Lady and exchanged goodwill gifts with the Prime Minister.
The Minister has followed-up on his request for AIT to provide training for staff from the Ministry of Urban Development and Sacred Areas Development, in the fields of RS & GIS, urban water management, eco-tourism, Internet technology and ICT.
On a visit to the United States, from 19-25 September 2007, Vice President Ni Ni represented AIT at the memorial services held in North Carolina for the late President of the AIT Foundation (USA) Mr. Robert Bodden. This gesture on the part of AIT was greatly appreciated by the family of the late Mr. Bodden and the AIT Foundation Board Members. She also met with the Executive Director of the Governor's Office in the State of Arkansas, and presented AIT's new Charter as well as an invitation for the U.S. to re-engage with AIT. Vice President Khin Ni Ni Thien also had discussions on various fund raising matters with Clinton Foundation officials and the Chancellor of the University of Arkansas.
