On 19 September, a Decision Meeting was held to consider the outsourcing of the AIT cafeteria operations to Sodexho (www.sodexho.com), which is a global organization specializing in integrated facilities management. Following a lengthy discussion on the various pros and cons, the decision was made to proceed with the outsourcing of the cafeteria. All who attended were impressed by the quality of debate and discussions, which will enable AIT to address the concerns of the community in developing the contract with Sodexho. The key issues agreed during the Decision Meeting are as follows:
The Student Union (SU), through the SU President, will provide a list of essential items which they feel should be included in the agreement between AIT and Sodexho;
- The SU will provide a list of key indicators for measurement and assessment of the quality of the services;
- Sodexho must ensure that a variety of food options are available, namely, South Asian, Southeast Asian, vegetarian, and Muslim food;
- The options and services available for non-cafeteria related functions, such as for events and functions organized by different nationalities and community groups, must be considered.
