AIT-Mahidol University, Chulabhorn Research Institute triangular collaboration

On 8 November 2007, AIT President Said Irandoust, along with faculty colleague Dr. Preeda Parkpian, from School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) visited the Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI) to discuss the second phase (the first phase was during 1999-2005) of the collaboration between AIT, CRI and Mahidol University on the Postgraduate Education in Environmental Toxicology, Technology and Management.

Associate Professor Dr. Khunying Mathuros Ruchirawat, Chairperson of the Program, and Vice President for Research and Head, Laboratory of Environmental Toxicology; Associate Professor Dr. Jutamaad Satayavivad, Associate Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Head, Laboratory of Pharmacology; and Professor Dr. Skorn Mongkolsuk, Head, Laboratory of Biotechnology participated from CRI; and Associate Professor Dr. Rassimidara Hoonsawat, Faculty of Science; and Associate Professor Nardtida Tumrasvin, represented Mahidol University. A representative from the Ministry of Education also participated in the meeting.

They had a very good discussion and have jointly agreed on the modalities for cooperation into the second phase and agreed to the signing of the new MoU before 7 December 2007. They were also able to clarify in a very collegial manner some of the uncertainties of the past which will help further strengthen collaboration into the future. Associate Professor Dr. Khunying Mathuros had an instrumental role in the development of this network partnership, as well as AIT’s other colleagues from CRI, Mahidol University, Ministry of Education, and Dean Kumar and Dr. Preeda. One of AIT's unique strengths is its ability to network with other partner universities and institutions and this collaborative partnership serves as an excellent example of how AIT can contribute in the important area of environmental toxicology together with its partners.
