International Symposium on Geotechnical Engineering Ground Improvement and Geosynthetics for Human Security and Environmental Preservation
On 6 December 2007, AIT President Said Irandoust attended the "International Symposium on Geotechnical Engineering Ground Improvement and Geosynthetics for Human Security and Environmental Preservation". The event was organized by AIT's Asian Center for Soil Improvement and Geosynthetics (ACSIG), School of Engineering and Technology (SET) and its partners, which include: the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS), Thailand Chapter; Southeast Asian Geotechnical Society (SEAGS); King Mongkut's University of Technology (KMUTT); and the Department of Environmental Quality and Promotion in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Thailand.
Partnership Agreement with Islamic University of Indonesia
On 6 December 2007, AIT signed an MoU with Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), Yogyakarta UII, which will further strengthen the cooperation between AIT and UII through joint academic, research, training, advisory, and consultancy activities. Under this MoU, AIT-UII will carry out joint education programs and research covering all relevant disciplines in AIT and UII. Priority areas are UII staff development, dual degree program, faculty / staff exchange and joint research.
Partnership with the Mountbatten Institute
On 4 December 2007, Dr Jonathan Shaw and AIT President Said Irandoust met with Dr Paul Beresford-Hill MBE, the Director-General of the Mountbatten Institute, and his colleagues Ajai Randhawa and Isabel Hedges, for further discussions on a possible collaboration between AIT and the Mountbatten Institute.

The Asian Association for Agricultural Engineering (AAAE) organized a four-day International Agricultural Engineering Conference (IAEC), the ninth in its series, at the AIT Conference Center during 3-6 December. This biennial event, convened by Professor V. M. Salokhe, was attended by nearly 120 participants, representing over 20 countries.

AIT to organize a workshop on teaching and learning
Professor Peter Haddawy, Vice President for Academic Affairs is working on organizing a workshop on teaching and learning which will be held at AIT on 5 and 6 April 2008, under the umbrella of ASAIHL. The workshop will be led by Dr. Lynne Hunt, who is a Board Member of the Carrick Institute for Teaching and Learning in Australia, and who is a recipient of the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Teaching.
