AIT community congratulates H.E. Professor Nguyen Thien Nhân on his recent appointment as Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam

The AIT community extends congratulations and best wishes to H.E. Professor Nguyen Thien Nhân, Minister of Education and Training (MOET), on his recent promotion and appointment as Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister, which was confirmed by the Vietnam National Assembly on 2 August 2007.

Dr. Do Huy Thinh, Director of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Regional Training Center, in Vietnam, who was at AIT to take part in AIT's Executive Committee meeting on 6 August 2007, informed the AIT community of this good news.

Farewell lunch for outgoing Ambassador of Bangladesh
AIT President Said Irandoust, along with Vice President for Development and Resources Dr. Khin Ni Ni Thein, on 30 July, joined the AIT-hosted farewell lunch in honour of outgoing AIT trustee, H.E. Mr. Shahed Akhtar, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand.

Interim Director of AIT Center in Indonesia visits
Dr. Sugimin Pranoto, Interim Director of our AIT Center in Indonesia (AITCI), visited AIT from 1 - 4 August to finalize the internal agreement between AITCI and the School of Engineering and Technology (SET) for the AIT-UGM (Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia) dual degree program in Transportation Systems Engineering.

United Arab Emirates University to send master's students on exchange program

United Arab Emirates University, established in 1977, which started offering master's programs in 1996, plans to send some of its master's students to AIT on an exchange program and to jointly conduct short training or workshop programs.

China's Zhejiang Gongshang University proposes academic collaboration

The Vice Rector of China's Zhejiang Gongshang University (ZJGSU), Professor Wang Guo-An, visited AIT on 2 August 2007 and made a presentation on the Chinese educational system and education markets.

SET welcomes Dr. Takeuchi

The School of Engineering and Technology (SET) welcomes Dr. Wataru Takeuchi, who joined AIT recently.

Dr. Takeuchi has joined SET's Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems Field of Study, from 1 August 2007 to 31 July 2009, as a visiting faculty member, seconded by the International Center for Urban Safety Engineering (ICUS), Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo, Japan.

Japan's Vice Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), visits AIT
H.E. Mr. Toshiei Mizuochi, Vice Minister, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Japan, on 3 August 2007, visited AIT along with senior officials from MEXT, the Director of the JAXA Office in Bangkok, and officials from the Japanese Embassy to Thailand.
