AIT Earthquake Guru Warns Moderate Tremor in Bangkok Could kill Thousands of People
Dr. Pennung Warnitchai, Coordinator of Structural Engineering Field of Study, School of Engineering and Technology and an AIT earthquake guru said if an earthquake of a moderate force hits Bangkok anytime, it could kill thousands of people.
Under the approval of AIT President Said Irandoust, the first Steering Committee meeting of the Golden Jubilee Fundraising Campaign (GJFC) will take place on 26 June 2007. According to AIT President, the primary task of the Steering Committee members is to provide ideas and suggestions, cautions on fundraising from Schools, as well as from faculty, staff and community at large to the GJFC. The steering Committee would also serve to act as a mechanism to ensure awareness, internal ownership, wide involvement and popularity and commitment on the part of all AITians towards the GJFC.

Professor Vilas Salokhe has been invited to serve as an international reviewer of research proposals submitted by Croatian scientists to be financed by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia.
Post-graduate Course on Technology and Sustainable Development
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM ) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne (Ecole Polytechnique F?d?rale de Lausanne - EPFL) will organize the third edition of a sixteen-week long joint post-graduate course on 'Technology and Sustainable Development - Innovative and integrated approaches in emerging countries' at the IIT Madras, India from 2 January - 22 April 2008. The course is open to graduate students and professionals, with a university degree, in various occupations who are not necessarily specialists in the field.
