Special Meeting of the Executive Committee on Draft AIT Charter
The special meeting of the AIT Executive Committee held on 14 May 2007 agreed to a reformulation of Article 3 on Contributions in the draft AIT Charter, taking into account the comments and suggestions from members of the Board.
AIT signs MoU with the International Center of Excellence in Water Resources Management
On 14 May 2007, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between AIT and the International Center of Excellence in Water Resources Management (ICE WaRM). ICE WaRM is an initiative funded by the Australian Government headquarter in Adelaide.
New Concept Paper for the AIT Center in Pakistan
AIT and Pakistan are in the process of preparing a new Concept Paper for the establishment of the main AIT Center in Pakistan with broader
objectives and diverse activities, with specific Campuses of this Center at various locations.
The Japan Foundation in talks with AIT
The Japan Foundation is interested to collaborate with AIT in many aspects with possible collaborative activities including co-hosting cultural activities or talks on Japanese related issues, and projects under the 'Intellectual Exchange' program.
Mid-term Evaluation of CIDA SEA-UEM Project
On 10 May 2007, Dr. Anne Bernard, CIDA designated Mid-Term Evaluator, was at AIT to evaluate the Southeast Asia Urban Environmental Management Applications (SEA-UEMA) Project. Dr. Bernard was provided with an update on the recent developments at AIT, new strategic directions, and also discussed how the project fits into the future directions of the Institute.
AIT to develop a paper highlighting its role and contribution in the region
AIT President's Advisory Council (PAC) agreed at its meeting on 9 May 2007 to develop a paper, which could be used by all members of the AIT Community, highlighting the role and contribution of AIT in region, and argument as to why it is in the interest of partners to continue supporting and working with AIT into the future.
AIT President participates in IUCN Reception
AIT President Said Irandoust participated in the World Conservation Union (IUCN) reception on 10 May 2007 in conjunction with the Regional Steering Committee (RSC) meeting of the 'Mangroves for the Future: Promoting Investment in Costal Ecosystem Conservation' project.
Meeting for selection of WAP Coordinator held at AIT
The meeting of the WAP (Wetland Alliance Program) partners (AIT; Coastal Resources Institute at the Prince of Songkhla University, Thailand; WorldFish Center; and WWF) was held at AIT on 11 May 2007 to shortlist the candidates for the WAP coordinator position, among a total of 119 applications received.
Final proceedings of Tsunami Scientific Forum completed
The symposium proceedings of the Scientific Forum on the Tsunami, Its Impact and Recovery, Regional Symposium (held at AIT during 6-7 June 2005), which was edited by Professor Tawatchai Tingsanchali, was successfully completed.
N. R. Narayana Murthy of Infosys to Deliver Convocation Address
The Chairman of the Board and Chief Mentor at Infosys (http://www.infosys.com/), Mr. N. R. Narayana Murthy, will deliver the convocation address in the afternoon session of AIT’s 107th AIT Graduation Ceremony which will take place on 24 May 2007. Mr. Murthy also serves as the Chairman of the AIT School of Management Board, which will be holding its second meeting on the same day as the graduation.
