AIT Alumni Lecture: ADB Vice President speaks on climate change
Distinguished AIT alumnus Dr. Bindu N. Lohani (above), who is Vice President of Finance and Administration at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), on 4 January 2008 delivered a lecture at AIT on the topic “Challenge of Climate Change: How to deal with it?”.
Speaking to a full house at the Milton E. Bender Jr. Auditorium on the campus of his alma mater, Dr. Lohani covered issues related to energy and climate change scenarios in Asia and the challenges that lie ahead in the post-Bali Conference on Climate Change era.
University of Tokyo supports AIT for AGS affiliate membership
The President of the University of Tokyo, Professor Hiroshi Komiyama, recently formally wrote to AIT President Said Irandoust, expressing his strong support to AIT in becoming an affiliate member of the prestigious Alliance for Global Sustainability (AGS) initiative.
AIT President and ASEAN Secretary General discuss synergies
AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust earlier this month met with Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, the new Secretary General of ASEAN, discussing ways in which there could be synergies and closer partnerships between AIT and ASEAN under Dr. Surin's new leadership.
15 January 2008: Japanese class for beginners
The AIT Language Center will organize a Japanese class for beginners.
Class schedule: starts on 15th of January and finishes before the mid-term exams in March. Classes are every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
Class size: maximum 20 students, minimum 10 students
Tuition fee: 1500 Baht for the whole course of 19.5 hours.

AITAA 108th Induction Ceremony
The AITAA Mother Chapter welcomed about 182 new members to its alumni family through the 108th Induction Ceremony which was held on 20 December 2007 at the Milton Bender Auditorium, AIT. There are now 15,504 AIT Alumni from more than 80 countries worldwide.

The Second GMSARN International Conference 2007: The Second GMSARN International Conference 2007 was successfully organized by GMSARN on 12th –14th December at Ambassador City Jomtien Hotel, Pattaya. The aim of the
conference was to provide one of the biggest GMS forums for participants to
disseminate and discuss their research findings.
First Tsunami Science and Preparedness Certificate Program in Asia
The first Tsunami Science and Preparedness (TSP) Certificate Program in Asia will be jointly organized by AIT and University of Washington (UW), USA, with the support from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and United States Agency for International Development (USAID-Asia) in Bangkok from 10-26 March 2008. The program is offered as part of AIT’s new post-graduate study program on Disaster Preparedness, Mitigation and Management.
