His Majesty the King of Thailand conveys his continued interest and support for AIT and its work

His Majesty King Bhumibol of Thailand conveyed through Her Royal Highness Maha Chakri Sirindhorn his continued interest and support for AIT and its work. HRH Princess Sirindhorn revealed this during the luncheon which AIT hosted in honour of HRH Princess Sirindhorn after the AIT’s 108th Graduation on 21 December 2007.

Her Royal Highness also made a personal contribution of 1 million Baht towards scholarships for needy students to pursue their studies at AIT. Her Royal Highness had very fond memories and recollections of the time she spent at AIT in 1984, when she attended a two-month course at the Asian Regional Remote Sensing Training Center.

4 January 2008: “Challenge of Climate Change: How to deal with it” Talk by Dr. Lohani

Dr. Bindu Lohani, distinguished AIT alumnus and former faculty will be visiting AIT on Friday, 4 January 2008 during which he has kindly offered to deliver a talk on "Challenge of Climate Change: How to deal with it" to members of the AIT community. The talk will take place at the Milton E. Bender Jr. Auditorium from 10:00-11:30 a.m.

On a most recent development, Dr. Lohani, who currently serves as the ADB Vice President for Finance and Administration, was conferred an honorary doctorate degree by Griffith University, Australia on 14 December 2007. The honorary doctorate degree which was conferred on Dr. Lohani, on the occasion of the University's graduation ceremony, recognizes his work and contribution in the areas of sustainable development, environmental issues and poverty as well as instrumental role in breaking new ground in the incorporation of environmental and social considerations in ADB's lending and development activities.
