Grants for research, projects, training, and conferences


AIT recently received grants for research, projects, training, and conference from various organizations as follows:

AIT has signed a new contract agreement with Poyry Energy Ltd (Switzerland) for a research project on Hydraulic Model Test of La Confluencia Hydroelectric Drop/Surge Shaft coordinated by Mr. Arturo Roa of Water Engineering and Management Field of Study, School of Engineering and Technology (SET). This project will run for 3 months with a total budget of 1 Million Baht.

Another collaborative research grant coordinated by Dr. Shinji Tanaka and Dr. Wataru Takeuchi, Visiting Professors to SET, entitled Regional Network Office for Urban Safety (RNUS), is funded by the University of Tokyo with a total budget of 1.1 million Baht. This support will run for 3 years.

The faculty of Energy Field of Study, School of Environment Resources and Development (SERD), Dr. N. Mithulananthan, Dr. Weerakorn Ongsakul, Professor S. Kumar, and Prof Ram Shrestha are organizing an International Conference on Energy Security and Climate Change: Issues, Strategies and Options with a total budget of 800,000 Baht.

Dr. Thammarat Koottatep, also from SERD's Environmental Engineering and Management (EEM) Field of Study is coordinating a research project under SEA-UEMA project funded by CIDA on Sustainable Wastewater Management in Tsunami-hit Area through People Participation.

Environmental Engineering and Management (EEM) Field of Study, Professor C. Visvanathan's proposal on Research and Development on Wastewater Treatment Technology for Perfluorooactane sulfonate (PFOS) and Perflurorooctonoic Acid (PFOA) Contaminated Industries has been awarded a research grant by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development (NEDO) and with support from National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Thailand. This is a joint project with Mahidol University's Dr. Suwanna Kitpati Boontanon, and the whole program is coordinated by Kyoto University. Furthermore, another project proposal from Professor C. Visvanathan to European Commission 7th Framework Programme (FP7), with a lead partner BIOAZUL in Spain, has been accepted for funding. This project is entitled "Integrated Sustainable Solid Waste Management in Asia".

The AIT Extension is currently organizing the Training Course on Management Consulting Essentials which is coordinated by Mr. Voravate Chonlasin and Mr. Bahul Raj Shrestha with a total budget of 800,000 Baht.
