SET welcomes Visiting Faculty from University of Tokyo

The School of Engineering and Technology (SET) welcomes Dr. Shinji Tanaka as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Transportation Engineering Field of Study for a period of two years, from1 January 2008 to 31 July 2009.  He is seconded to SET by the International Center for Urban Safety Engineering (ICUS), Institute of Industrial Science of the University of Tokyo. 

Dr. Tanaka is an Assistant Professor ICUS.  He completed his doctoral studies in civil engineering from the University of Tokyo in 2007 and obtained his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Civil Engineering from the same university.  His areas of expertise revolve around traffic engineering, traffic management and ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems).  

During his stay at TRE/SET, Dr. Tanaka is serving as co-coordinator of the Regional Network Office for Urban Safety (RNUS), with Dr. Wataru Takeuchi in the Remote Sensing & Geographic Information Systems Field of Study, teaching the course CE73.24: “Intelligent Transportation Systems” during the January Semester. He is also contributing as a chairperson and/or a committee member for master’s and doctoral students’ supervision in the Transportation Engineering Field of Study.
